Our Logo
When designing our logo, words from our mission came out such as gentle, patient, kind and loving. This reminded us of a different kind of winged creature. The hummingbird. When an elderly man was facing the end of his life, he shared the story of how he would barbeque on the deck and visit with the hummingbirds. He would talk gently to them, and they would hover and listen to his words. He would then reach out his hand and they would flutter off. He believed that with complete compassion and a gentle hand, he could convince a hummingbird to land on his hand and hold it.
We believe that the world keeps us so busy that we feel that our challenges are lost causes and then feel like our goals are unattainable. With the right amount of compassion, gentleness, kindness and patience, these goals can calmly rest in the palm of our hands. We must approach our lives, our addictions and our challenges with the same mindfulness that this man had shared.
